If you found this book useful and enjoy wood carving and carousel horses, you will also love this new book coming out in October 2010 by The Connecticut Press called “Flying Horses: The Golden Age of American Carousel Art, 1870 – 1930.”. It contains over 150 high quality images of carousel horses, many of which were from Coney Island, and their history. The photographs are superb so you can really appreciate the wood carving details, as well as the history of their carvers. You can get more info on Facebook by searching “Flying Horses.” ISBN: 978-0-9825468-2-6
What do you guys think of this idea for a baby girl’s room?
My husband and I don’t have children yet, but I’m already planning what their rooms will look like. I’m still in progress with a boys room, but I think I have a girls room firgured out.I’m not crazy about pink, but (go figure) I want my daughter’s room to be pink. I don’t like hot pink, so I was going to do a soft pink bedding, curtains, and maybe a rug on the floor. I would like the walls to be antique white, or some Antique Carousel Red softer version of white, so it won’t be overly difficult to redo the room when she gets older.I want the furniture to be a medium color. Not as dark as espresso, but not as light as natural. Maybe oak or cherry. We do plan on getting a convertible crib, so the color of the furniture won’t really change as she grows. Here is where I kind of run into a problem, I found a mural that I absolutely love, but I’m not sure how well it will work with everything else I have going on.http://www.muralsyourway.com/myw4-design.cfm?pid=MMIALD2012&col=y&flp=nAs far as decorations, I was thinking about a rocking horse, and maybe carousel pillows and stuff like that. I love carousels, but I don’t want to over-do my daughter’s room because I like them. Here is a link to all of the carousel murals that they have on that site.http://www.muralsyourway.com/myw4-search.cfmIf that one that I like doesn’t work, is there a chance that one of the others would work? Thanks!
