I just assumed that a book by Entrepreneur Magazine would be of the same caliber as their magazine. I was wrong. I’ve read all the best-selling vending books offered here at Amazon and this one is the worst (see the best, below). The author clearly knows very little about the vending industry. It reads like a high school level book report, which I would give only a “C” grade. Most of the material stems from “superficial” interviews with established route operators. The section which covers how to locate machines uses a lady’s stocking (hosiery) vendor as an example… far from a typical machine. [...] There is so much MISinformation or superficial information as to render the book useless. An unknowing reader would not be able to differentiate fact from fiction. The best book I’ve read regarding how to start and run a vending business is Vending Success Secrets. That book covers everything a new route operator needs to know, and also offers a lot of helpful tips for even an
We had to write an absurd story for English. Here’s mine:James Harrison: Man or Animal?2:35 was left in the 1st quarter. The score was Steelers 3, Saints 0. Drew Brees had 1st and 10 with the ball on his own 25. It would have been a pretty uneventful situation early in the game, but every play is unnecessarily brutal when James Harrison is involved. Brees lined up in shotgun formation and took the snap. In the time it took for Brees to get a hand on the ball, Harrison had already trampled over the guard who was “blocking” him. As Brees put his fingers between the laces, he looked up to find the 240lb linebacker inches from his face. The play ended with Brees’ body on the ground and his head in Harrison’s hands.Brees was immediately carted off the field with a detached head. He did not return to finish the game, but The New Orleans Tribune reports that Brees practiced today and is listed as “probable” for this week’s game against Vending Machine Quarter Games the Panthers. Although he has been cleared to start, you have to wonder how an injury like this will affect his performance. According to the scientific journal Holy Bull Spit, your head contains your eyes, which give you sight; your ears, which allow you to hear; and your brain, which controls your coordination and handles most, if not all, of your decision making. It will be interesting to see how well Brees does this Sunday without all those vital organs. But nobody actually cares about Brees’ condition. The real story here is the hit by the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year. Despite that fact that the refs viewed the hit as clean and there was no flag thrown for unnecessary roughness, Roger Goodell and the NFL will naturally overreact and fine Harrison another whopping $75,000 for the hit. This is meant to further his message that dirty hits will not be tolerated in the NFL. Harrison responded that “this is bull,” and he will be appealing the fine. James Harrison said in his autobiography, Human Wrecking Ball, that he doesn’t “aim to just hurt opposing players; when you play under Mikey T and Dick LeBeau, you don’t shoot to wound, you shoot to kill.” Before the play, Coach Mike “Mikey T” Tomlin specifically told Harrison to “rip [Brees’] head off.” After the hit, Tomlin could be seen giving Harrison a job-well-done pat on the butt on the sidelines while continuing to look absolutely chill.Harrison’s side to the recent controversial hits is explained in the documentary, A Moment in the Life of a Beast. Harrison says: “It’s hard to control yourself when you’re a linebacker. I usually think of something to make me angry, like last week when my Twix bar got stuck in the vending machine. After that, I just black out and lose it.”So while this fine will put a tiny scratch in Harrison’s wallet, I don’t believe this will in any way tame him. He will be back to violently upend Carson Palmer in next Monday’s game against the Bengals.
