I just assumed that a book by Entrepreneur Magazine would be of the same caliber as their magazine. I was wrong. I’ve read all the best-selling vending books offered here at Amazon and this one is the worst (see the best, below). The author clearly knows very little about the vending industry. It reads like a high school level book report, which I would give only a “C” grade. Most of the material stems from “superficial” interviews with established route operators. The section which covers how to locate machines uses a lady’s stocking (hosiery) vendor as an example… far from a typical machine. [...] There is so much MISinformation or superficial information as to render the book useless. An unknowing reader would not be able to differentiate fact from fiction. The best book I’ve read regarding how to start and run a vending business is Vending Success Secrets. That book covers everything a new route operator needs to know, and also offers a lot of helpful tips for even an

Why does my school have to be so damn politically correct?!?
I’m a liberal, but even this is ridiculous: (This is at a “special ed” school, I’m in the high-func. autism/asperger’s section)-They hand out “awards” for things like perfect attendance for 1 week, and gave EVERYONE an award at graduation, even if they had to make up a reason-They can’t correct typos/glaring errors in writings because it’ll “discourage the kids from making more (crappy) writings!!!!”-They have to reward kids that “earn” things by not being TOO bad, and they reward with things like yu-gi-oh cards, computer time, etc. I’ve seen a kid make the teacher cry and later get on the computer.-They make us read the things from #2. Out loud. In class. Next to things that took months to write and edit. Because something I spent months on is just as important as 10 pages of Mario and Samus blowing stuff up. (That’s what I gathered of the plot through all the typos, anyway)-They make us include everyone in things, so if I let my friend have a bag of grapes because he doesn’t have a lunch, I better hide it or have enough for eveyone! Thankfully it’s not harshly inforced, but things like birthday invitations have to be given to kids we’d rather cancel the party for than see there, unless we do it on the sly.-They seem to think an e-mail to a parent and a stern warning is sufficient punishment for anything up to and including splashing water all over me and my desk and papers.-We need to be supervised EVERYWHERE, even to the bathroom about 15 yards from our room.-The nurse isn’t allowed to do things like remove splinters, because of some stupid litigious parents (seems like the rationalle for most of the above, actually), so we just could replace Vending Machine Warning Labels her with a vending machine that dispenses band-aids and ice packs and save some $.-Everything seems to apply threefold to me because I don’t go along with it and not see the idiocy like everyone else (though I might me paranoid).Just wanted to rant, and I know everyone loves an angry rant they agree with!@Windwater”My first thought is, don’t believe everything you think. And remember, as a person with Asperger’s it is very hard for you to understand, much less judge the behavior of institutions and people. For instance you think everyone likes an angry rant, just because they agree (which is a presumption at best.) They don’t. People try to stay away from people who rant; it is disliked by almost everyone.”I certaintly enjoy reading someone angrily saying what I’ve been thinking, so maybe YOU don’t understand.”Inventive spelling is frequently used to assist children with disabilities to be able to get what is in their minds to the paper. If they have to interrupt their flow of ideas to concentrate on how a word is spelled, then they will never get anything on paper. What is more preferable, sitting there trying to figure out how to spell something or getting your ideas down? That’s why we have spell checkers.”My entire class is for high-functioning autism, so it’s not a disability thing. Even when they get their “ideas” down they should do a spellcheck afterwards or AT VERY LEAST have it noted.”Sometimes schools give out special awards in areas in which there have been previous problems, for instance, attendance. In addition, to teach more appropriate behaviors to kids with fairly severe disabilities does require reinforcers, such as trading cards and computer time. After the child has learned the new behavior, the reinforcers can be reduced.”Except they give awards to EVERYONE so no one feels left out, not just people who’ve improved/done something noteworthy. And one kid has just a problem with talking out/being the class clown, and he goes on the computer 3-4 times a day, even though he talks out whenver he wants and NEVER leaves me alone, even when I tell the teacher. And he’s been getting to do this MORE.”If I stopped and ranted about every crazy thing that goes on, I’d never stop talking. I also see the ridiculous, but I don’t have the time or emotional energy to spend on ranting, so I laugh instead. Certainly the ridiculous amount of litigation over the smallest thing is crazy, but can you replace kindness and caring from a human being with a vending machine? Will the vending machine also be able to take temperatures, judge the seriousness of an injury or illness or call home to talk to parents? I ‘m just asking. “I don’t think they’re allowed to have kindness or caring, and if an injury isn’t serious enough to be treated with a band-aid or cold pack, they just call. So make that a vending machine with a pay phone by it.”I think you have been placed in the wrong setting. Evidently, you need less supervision than your peers and are more able. It would seem like a high functioning autism class on a regular campus would be much better for you. Generally speaking, special schools are usually for children who are severely disabled. I don’t see that you are, so ask your parents to request an IEP meeting to consider a less restrictive environment. The law says you MUST be place in the least restrictive environment (LRE.)”I have an IEP, but this is a school for Autism specifcally, called “The Help Group”.
