Can 1-day parking permits purchased from a parking lot vending machine be deemed non-transferable?
The parking lot at the college I attend has no gates or parking attendants, just vending machines that offer whole-day, or 1-day, parking permits. So if I only need to park for one hour, I still have to pay the Vending Machine Offers whole-day price. This makes me angry, so I make a habit of giving my pass away to the next-in-line at the vending machine when I’m done. I can get away with this because there are no gates that issue one-ticket to one-car. The back of the permit says “non-transferable”, so supposedly I’m breaking the law by doing this. But in the little research I have done, non-transferable status are usually designated to permits that require you write down your name and license plate ID, such as permanent year-long permits and not those from a vending machine. How else can they tell who the permit rightfully belongs to?
