New fish tank help?
I recently set up a 65 gallon fish tank. I put in a undergravel filter, a 30-45 gallon whisper filter, and a 20 gallon whisper filter. I put in start up chemicals, 12 goldfish to help cycle the tank, for some reason half of them got stuck to the filter and ended up dying, so I took them all out. Cycled the water for a week and tested the water, all was well. I went out and bought a long fined albino oscar 3″ and two days later introduced a 5″ channel cat. Waited a few more days and introduced a 3″ green terror. Now all hell broke lose, the channel cat attacked the oscar bad and left it half dead, Half Gallon Cotton I took the channel cat out and put some pennicilin in the tank. Seeing the oscar was bad off the green terror finished him off as soon as I left the room!! Here is where my question comes in, when I was cleaning up the destruction in the tank and moved the rocks on the bottom, TONS of white bits float all over the tank, that look like cotton.Is this the waste from all of the death that has happened in the tank, or do I have something else going on in there? I mean there is tons of these cotton looking bits going on in there.Koolieo Vegan I did do research that’s why I have a 65 gallon tank. 3-4 gallons per inch of fish oscars get around 14 inches that would be a 42-56 gallon tank. And green terrors get around the same size, that would be 84-112 gallons, which I planned on setting up a 125 gallon after they grew to that size. Thanks for commenting on that though. And for everyone else, you think that it is ICK then?No filter media that I noticed no, and I assumed that it was probably a gold fish that got stuck under there after death from the under gravel filter and you pretty much made me come to that conclusion for sure then. I guess I have a lot of gravel cleaning in front of me, thank you all for your advice and help.
